COVID-19 Optical Components

On the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic are the doctors, nurses, first responders, and hospital staff working tirelessly to take care of us. Our gratitude to those individuals cannot be overstated. The next line of the defense is the scientists and researchers feverishly working on solutions for testing and a vaccine. Here in New Jersey, our manufacturing facility has remained open as an essential supplier of optics to the government and biomedical industries. Recently, we established a Rapid Response Team to accelerate any inbound optical requirements for COVID-19 research. Today, we are happy to report it’s working. We have fielded and supplied numerous customers with precision optical components to aid in their battle against the on-going pandemic. 

Some of our successes have been:

A UV filter customized from our catalog inventory, reconfigured, polished, inspected and shipped within 24 hours to a government laboratory. The filter will be used in a cutting-edge proprietary system that amplifies ultraviolet light to eradicate biological contaminants. 

A set of custom UV fused silica lenses for a prototype machine that emits UV-C light at 200 to 280 nanometers. This project was from a first-time customer with extensive experience using UV light to kill bacteria, fungi, and viruses. We worked closely with their engineers to understand and fulfill their needs quickly. Our fast-turnaround allowed the customer to continue their aggressive schedule to help in defeating the ongoing pandemic. 

These are just two examples of the many components our Rapid Response Team has produced. Since the beginning of this pandemic, our entire company has been laser-focused on our customers’ needs. Now more than ever, we are working diligently to accelerate any optical requirement necessary to help defeat this virus. By partnering with scientists, epidemiologists and biomedical companies, we're leveraging our experience and resources to help get life back to normal as quickly as possible.
