Esco Optics attends Photonics West 2016

Photonics West 2016 Recap

Esco Optics exhibited once again at the SPIE Photonics West exhibition in late February. It is the premier show for optical components supporting the areas of biomedical optics and biophotonics, industrial lasers and laser sources, optoelectronics devices and materials, nano-photonics and MEOMS-MEMs. The show attendance was 22,000 and 4,900 papers, and talks were presented as well.  

Business was brisk at the Esco booth all week. Esco Optics raffled an iPad to attendees that visited the booth, and the lucky winner was Don Curry of MLD Technologies of Eugene, OR. Congratulations to Don!

2nd Annual Beer Pong Tournament

Esco Optics also hosted the second annual beer pong tournament with 80 participants from all sectors of the industry. There was plenty of food and fun to go around! The event fostered new relationships as well as rekindling some old ones. The final game came down to the team of Esco’s own Joe Avento and Ted Turnquist of Meller Optics. They faced the international tandem of Frank Nuremberg of Heraeus Quartz Germany and Jason Perch of SI Howard Glass, Worcester, MA. In the end, the international team of Frank and Jason walked away the winners. The champions have their names immortalized on the belts and will enjoy them until they have to hand them over to the winners of next years tournament. All of the teams demonstrated the character, sportsmanship, and camaraderie that presides over the optics industry.
