Esco Optics proudly welcomes our newest team member, Ron Schulmerich, as Business Development Manager. In this role, Ron will help to further develop Esco’s portfolio of clients while maintaining strong relations with existing customers. With nearly 36 years of experience in optics, Ron brings a wealth of industry familiarity and expertise to the Esco team.
Ron’s career in optics started in Rochester, NY, where he spent 23 years at Glass Fab Inc. There his responsibilities spanned from entry-level fabrication to QA/Materials Management, eventually leading to his role as the Technical Sales Engineer. During this time, Ron received two A.A.S. degrees in Optical Engineering and Quality Engineering from Monroe Community College. Later, he appeared at the college as a guest adjunct instructor and through his continued interest in optics, he created an optical material handbook.
In 2004, Ron Schulmerich left Glass Fab and joined Angstrom Precision Optics as VP of Sales. During his tenure at APO he assisted in refining optical polishing and machining techniques. In 2009, Ron took the role of President at APO. During this period, he also consulted for Optimax Systems and Advanced Glass Industries in the capacity of optical materials engineering. Ron authors an annual class on optical polishing and fabrication techniques for the American Scientific Glassblowers Society. He and his wife Diane co-chair what is now the 14th annual WNY Optics/Photonics Charity Golf Tournament.
In his new role at Esco, Ron Schulmerich will be interacting with new and current customers directly to assist them with their optical and engineering requirements. His experience will complement our sales engineering team by providing another venue of communication to our customers, buyers, and engineers. His expertise will also facilitate the optimization and refinement of our in-house processes and procedures.
Ron looks forward to his future here at Esco and has said,
“It is personally and professionally rewarding to partner with a respected and tenured company like Esco Optics. It’s rare to find an organization that truly shares in the passion and excitement I do for the Optics/Photonics industry.”
Ron will be traveling to meet with many of our customers directly and will also be appearing at most industry trade shows. He can be reached directly anytime via email at Ron@EscoOptics.com or on his cell at 585-455-4447.
This year, the Schulmerichs will be continuing the tradition of the WNY Optics/Photonics Charity Golf Tournament and look forward to hosting the event, which will be taking place on July 17th.
