SPIE Photonics West Tradeshow 2014 – A Recap

Esco was proud to be a part of one of the most successful trade shows in optics history.  The sold-out annual SPIE Photonics West Tradeshow in San Francisco, CA, was held from February 4^th-6^th and had an 8% higher attendance rate than last year.  Esco was one of 1,256 companies that exhibited at the Photonics West Tradeshow, and it drew a remarkable 21,360 registered attendees.  Our team members witnessed the volume of the crowd firsthand, as there were multiple visitors at the Esco booth at any given time throughout the course of the show.

Four Esco team members attended the Photonics West Tradeshow, including the company president, Lee Steneken, and Ron Schulmerich, business development manager.  Our manufacturing engineer, Jason Wickersham, and technical sales associate, Joseph Avento, were also in Photonics West trade show attendance.  They met with visitors throughout the week and offered giveaways such as beverage koozies and pamphlets.  Visitors could also catch a glimpse into Esco’s past through early company brochures and paraphernalia.

Among the most buzzed-about topics at this year’s Photonics West Tradeshow were aspheres.  It’s clear that the demand for these revolutionary lenses is increasing, as are our capabilities in manufacturing.  Esco can now produce Aspherical lenses up to 150mm diameter, and we use an enhanced measurement system to ensure precision.  Our new Marsurf LD120 Aspheric 3D system verifies surface form and irregularity on every asphere we fabricate.  Esco gladly welcomes asphere requests – allow us to quote your requirement and assist you in decreasing the cost of your application while increasing performance.

In addition to focusing on aspheres, Esco also promoted their longstanding history of providing customers with other optical components, such as spherical lenses, custom and catalog windows, filters, and prisms, as well as custom coatings.  As always, Esco is continuing to work hand-in-hand with material suppliers to ensure the availability of optics in all different kinds of materials, including fused silica, optical glasses, and crystals for the IR.  We maintain an extensive inventory of raw material, including Schott, Hoya, Ohara, and Corning.  For more information on our materials, please feel free to speak with one of our sales associates or view our materials
