Western NY Optics Golf Tournament reaches a milestone

Posted by Ron Schulmerich on

The Western NY Optics Golf Tournament has the honor to name a patient room in the new Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center. The hospital graciously asked that a room be named in honor of the annual tournament to reflect the commitment and generosity of the Western NY and national optics community over the past 15 years. The tournament has grown to be the largest annual optics networking event in the Rochester NY area. The dedication will take place on May 27th at the official opening of the new hospital.

The naming of the room is a reflection of the tournaments humble beginning in 2000 with 58 golfers from the WNY optics community. The current 15 year proceeds to date are a whopping $200,000! The event grown 16 years later to an annual gathering that attracts over 300+ participants in the optics industry from around the globe. Customers, vendors and competitors all join together for a day of fun, golf and networking. The tournament is a reflection of the comradely and inherent goodwill present in the US photonics industry.

The date of this year’s tournament is Thursday July 16th. It will be held at Shadow Lake and Shadow Pines Golf clubs in Penfield NY. If you are not on the mailing list and would like to participate, please email and we’ll be happy to send you information on this year’s tournament.
